Food-borne outbreaks investigation
1. Overall educational project objective

Trainings under this tender are aiming on updating participants with latest information on food-borne outbreak investigation.

2. Overall project objective

The training courses on Food-borne outbreaks are structured so that the courses will further increase and update the participant’s knowledge of the EU legislation related to the Directive 2003/99/EC, in order to ensure that food-borne outbreaks are properly monitored and subject to adequate epidemiological investigation. During the investigation of food-borne outbreaks, sources, vehicles, and contributing factors will be identified in order to learn how to control them and further prevent new cases and future outbreaks.
The participants will also face Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 ensuring a high level of protection of human health and consumers and Regulation (EC) No 851/2004 covering surveillance and risk assessment of threats to human health from communicable diseases and outbreak of illnesses of unknown origin.
The main objective of BTSF is to provide training for staff of competent authorities (CA) of EU Member States and associated states involved in official control activities to keep them up-to-date with all aspects of the EU legislation and the latest information in the areas of foodborne outbreak investigations in order to better understand the aim of the legislation and to facilitate a harmonization of the legislation between Member States.

3. Locations

3.1 Lisbon

Novotel Hotel Lisbon was selected for the for the accommodation, meals and conference venue. The hotel is located in the city of Lisbon, just 10 minutes' walk from Lisbon historical city center.
Totally renovated, it is ideal for business trips, offering 10 spacious meeting rooms, 7 with natural light. The Novotel hotel also has a swimming pool, fitness center, restaurant, bar and garage.
All rooms are modern spacious equipped with: bath/shower, WC, hairdryer, telephone, cable TV, mini bar, Wi-Fi connection.
The conference room selected is a first-class, fully air-conditioned event room, featuring modern conference technology and abundant natural lighting.

3.2 Barcelona

In Barcelona we have selected the Abba Garden Hotel for the accommodation, meals and conference venue. It is located in the city centre at the end of Avda. Diagonal, next to Hospital Sant Joan de Deu.
Close to the San Joan de Déu Hospital with excellent connection to the upper part of the city, to the Barcelona Airport and to the Palacio de Congresos de Catalunya (congress centre).
The hotel have 138 Rooms fully equipped and meeting rooms for up to 400 people with a ceiling at 3,5 m high. Garden area, Panoramic views of the city, Amalur Restaurant, Gym, Jacuzzi , Steam Bath, Sauna, Outdoor Pool, Paddle Court and Car Park.

3.3 Berlin

In Berlin we have selected two hotels:

Park Inn Alexanderplatz Hotel
This is located right next to famous Berlin TV tower, in the core of Berlin’s historic city centre. NH Alexanderplatz Hotel
It is located in the city center and participants have easy access to all of the sights and attractions of Berlin. Alexanderplatz hosts Berlin’s famous television tower and the shopping of Alexa. And nearby, the beautiful urban oasis Volkspark Friedrichshain with green paths tempts joggers and sightseers.
The conference facilities at the NH Berlin Alexanderplatz provide a sophisticated space for this type of event. For refreshments, lunches and dinners, there is a very nice and airy restaurant with its elegant summer terrace. Rooms are modern and fully equipped.
The NH Berlin Alexanderplatz hotel has also a nice wellness area including a sauna and steam bath.

3.4 Tallinn

In Tallinn we have selected Radisson Blu Olümpia for the accommodation, meals and training venue. Near the thriving business district, this hotel's location in Tallinn city center affords easy access to transport options. Only three kilometers from Lennart Meri Airport, the Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia sits near Tallinn's busy harbor.
Offering 390 well-appointed guest rooms, this Tallinn accommodation invites you to relax after a hectic day of business meetings or sightseeing. 3.5 Rome

In Rome we have selected the Ibis Style hotel in E.U.R. district for the accommodation, meals and conference venue.
Located in Rome's EUR business district, the ibis Styles Roma EUR hotel is just 15 minutes' walk from the EUR Palasport metro stop, with direct connections to the Colosseum, and offers a gastronomic restaurant, spacious air-conditioned rooms and a hearty breakfast decorated in a contemporary and minimalist style.
The modern rooms are equipped with a minibar, 32" flat-screen satellite TV and a safe. In the dining room, an extensive buffet breakfast awaits participants every morning.
There are 2 modern and fully equipped conference rooms that allow organizing professional seminars.
